Magnussen admits Ferrari engine is more of a concern than Haas performance

Kevin Magnussen was one of three drivers who fell by the wayside at the Azerbaijan GP because of Ferrari engine problems, and the problem set off a warning sign at Haas regarding the reliability of the Italian-made power unit. The Dane believes that this was the main factor that prevented him from scoring good points in the championship.

Besides Magnussen, Alfa Romeo's Guanyu Zhou and Ferrari's Charles Leclerc abandoned the race in Baku due to engine failure. Carlos Sainz also left the race in the ninth turn, but due to a hydraulic problem.

In Monaco, by the way, the problem with the Ferrari engine had already appeared. "We were in a position to score points in Monaco, then we had a problem with the power unit. Today [Sunday], again we were in a position to score points," the driver lamented.

"I'm not really worried about performance, but about reliability," Magnussen admitted. "But we have to stay like this, keeping positive thinking, and then we will go our way sooner or later," he added.

The Azerbaijan GP was Haas' fourth race without scoring points after a rather promising start pulled by the #20 itself. Magnussen, therefore, remains in the standings with the 15 points earned until the Emilia-Romagna GP, occupying 12th place. His teammate, Mick Schumacher, is still fighting to score points for the first time in Formula 1.
