Charles Leclerc will suffer a grid penalty at this weekend's Canadian Grand Prix after his team opted to change another part of the power unit in his car.
The Ferrari driver suffered a power unit failure while leading the Azerbaijan Grand Prix last Sunday. The team has installed new electronic controls for this weekend's Canadian Grand Prix at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve.
By using his third different set this season, Leclerc will exceed the maximum limit of two. As this is the first time he has exceeded the limit, he will suffer an automatic grid penalty of 10 places.
"It's great to be back at this track! It has a lot of personality and it's always fun to drive on circuits where you have to drive a lot in the corners. It was a positive first day overall. We did a good job improving our setup from TL1 to TL2," said Leclerc.
"The track evolution is usually quite big on this track, which was also the case today. The wind was quite strong, but it didn't affect my race too much. Our main focus from now on will be on preparing our race in the best possible way," concluded the Monegasque.
