The Ferrari driver was behind his teammate Carlos Sainz after the first few attempts in Q3, but did an impressive last lap and jumped to first.
Sainz made a mistake on his final attempt and dropped to fourth, beaten also by the Red Bulls of Sergio Perez and Max Verstappen.
