Leclerc ignores Friday's lead in Hungary: "Focus on tinkering with the setup"

Charles Leclerc controlled the top of the timesheet in Friday's TL2, but weather in Hungary makes result useless

The first day of Formula 1 weekend activities in Hungary this Friday (29) ended with Charles Leclerc leading for almost a full hour of the second free practice. The result, however, does not excite in almost anything. Leclerc points to the expectation of a turn in the weather and says that the day's work was focused on another issue.

According to the Formula 1 vice-leader, Ferrari's idea for Friday was to understand different possibilities in setting up the car to meet qualifying and the race.

Friday itself turned into a testing day, as the heat of over 30°C with sunny skies will not repeat itself for the rest of the weekend. Rain is expected for Saturday and much milder and cloudier weather for Sunday.

"With the possibility of weather conditions varying quite a bit this weekend, our focus was to work on the setup today. We did some race simulations, as we may not be able to do that in the third free practice tomorrow," he said.

"Although the track evolution is always very high here, it was less than we expected today. It will be key to set the tires in the correct windows tomorrow," he finished.
