Charles Leclerc will start the Hungarian GP from third position on Sunday afternoon. The Monegasque struggled during qualifying to take pole position, but Carlos Sainz and George Russell proved to be faster.
Before the race weekend, Max Verstappen and Leclerc seemed to be fighting together once again over who would start from the front. However, nothing was further from the truth, as Russell managed to put in a great lap and take Mercedes' first pole position of the season.
For Leclerc, however, it was clear that Ferrari was not doing as well as it could on Saturday afternoon. "Today was not a great day," the driver admitted honestly afterwards.
"I've been struggling a lot with the tires and had a lot of inconsistency to get the tires in the right window in these conditions. So I struggled to make a lap," he explained.
However, Leclerc is optimistic about the rest of the weekend. "We'll analyze that, but I'm sure we have pace in the car to get back to the front tomorrow. We will focus on that and hopefully have a better Sunday," he concluded.
