Charles Leclerc finished the first day of track activities as the fastest in Azerbaijan and praised the Ferrari car
The first day of track activities for the 2022 Formula 1 Azerbaijan GP ended with Charles Leclerc setting the best time. The Monegasque ended this Friday (10) optimistic with Ferrari, but not necessarily for the top spot. On the contrary, he even reduced the importance of the TL2 time table, but saw the car growing and with good race pace.
According to Leclerc, no one was able to put together a very good fast lap in TL2. So the final times don't matter as much as the comfort level he feels in the car and the speed in the race simulations.
"We had a solid first day. The progress we had from TL1 to TL2 was good, we worked well as a team. The lap time is not very representative, as no one else did a real fast lap in the second practice. There is still a lot of room for improvement," he said.
"Our race pace seemed pretty fast. I can also say that I felt good in the car. As for the tires, I was comfortable in the longer simulations and there was no wear at all. It's something very positive," concluded Leclerc.
GRANDE PRÊMIO follows all the activities LIVE and IN REAL TIME. On Saturday, TL3 is scheduled for 8am, while qualifying starts at 11am.
