Leclerc appreciates Ferrari's evolution in TL2 and puts full focus on the race in Canada

Ferraris will face grid penalty for the Canadian GP, but stressed the positive aspects of the car in Montreal, aiming for a great result in Sunday's race

Charles Leclerc will have a difficult weekend in Montreal. Even finishing Friday (17) in second place in TL2, the Monegasque is already going into Sunday's race with a 10-place grid penalty for changing the electronic assembly of his Ferrari.

Even in the face of an uncertain scenario, Leclerc preferred to welcome the return to the Canadian circuit, absent for the last two years on the Formula 1 calendar because of the coronavirus pandemic.

"It's great to be back at this track! It has a lot of character and it's always fun to drive on circuits where you have to ride on the zebras all the time," Charles said.

The Monegasque was pleased with his performance on the Montreal track, even though he did not trouble season leader Max Verstappen at any point. "It was a positive first day overall. We did a good job improving our setup from TL1 to TL2. The evolution is usually quite big at this track, which was also the case today."

The weather conditions in Canada, with a high possibility of rain, did not materialize. But another weather factor tried to interfere with Leclerc's performance, but without success. "The wind was quite strong, but it didn't affect my pace much. Our main focus from now on will be to prepare our race in the best way possible."
