Latifi admits pressure, but says he will stay at Williams until end of 2022 season

Nicholas Latifi admitted that he is under pressure because of a bad start in Formula 1 2022, but assured that he will remain at Williams until the end of the year. A change is being considered

Nicholas Latifi became a hot topic in the Formula 1 paddock. In a complicated season with Williams, a swap of the Canadian driver for the Australian Oscar Piastri is being considered and may happen as early as the British GP, which takes place in July. Despite the rumors, the Montreal driver guarantees he will stay at the Grove until the end of the year.

In an interview after the Azerbaijan GP, Latifi mentioned that he will remain at Williams until the end of the season. "I will drive for the rest of the year. I have nothing to add about that," he stated.

At Williams since 2020, Latifi had 2021 as his best season by scoring 7 points. In the current championship, he has often been overshadowed by teammate Alexander Albon and his best result was 14th place at the Miami GP. The Grove team is last in the Constructors' World Championship.

"I feel pressured, I think it would be the same for any driver who doesn't have a contract for next year. I think the pressure is always there, regardless of whether I have had great performances or for my place now, which is not where I want to be. I know what I need to improve, I want to improve, I'm not satisfied with the way things are now, so I'll be happy to try and take steps to evolve," Latifi concluded.

The next race of the 2022 Formula 1 season is precisely the Canadian GP, Latifi's home race, which takes place on the 19th at the Gilles Villeneuve circuit in Montreal.
