Christian Horner believes that Max Verstappen is driving with more maturity after winning the 2021 world championship.

"He did a tremendous job last year," the Red Bull boss said in the podcast .

"Think about some of the races where he drove under immense pressure. Austin stands out to me as one of them towards the end of the campaign."

"But, again, the races have been excellent this year and the cars are going a little bit closer. We've seen that in the eight or nine stages so far."

"So, yes, he has definitely improved from his experience from last year and you can see he is driving with even more maturity after winning that world championship."

Verstappen extended his lead in the championship points after his win at the Canadian GP, and Horner was impressed with the Dutchman's performance.

"He was extraordinary that weekend. I think, from the first lap in TL1, he led virtually every session of the weekend."

"That race was not smooth for us because the virtual safety car (VSC) periods were probably at the worst times for him, but he made everything work even under pressure."

"The important thing was that we gave him the track position for that final part of the race, and then he came under immense pressure after the last VSC with a very fast Ferrari behind."
