Red Bull boss Christian Horner explained the problems that caused his team to have a qualifying to forget in Hungary.

Sergio Perez was eliminated in Q2 and Horner said the Mexican was hindered by traffic, while Max Verstappen had a power loss in Q3 that left him 10th on the grid.

"It was frustrating to lose Checo in Q2, he got a bit of traffic in turn 2," Horner told .

"Max felt much more comfortable with the balance of the car today and I think we had a chance for pole, but a crash at turn 2 on the first attempt immediately left us at a disadvantage.

"Still, we were confident. Unfortunately, there was a problem related to the power unit on its exit lap. We were trying to reset the sensors to try to fix it, but it didn't work."

"So no representative times from Max in Q3. 10th and 11th on the grid, it will be a busy race tomorrow, but congratulations to George Russell for his first pole, it looked like a very clean lap."

When asked if Verstappen could have been on the front row, Horner replied, "Well, there were some gusts of wind in Q3. I don't know. Theoretically, I believe Max would have been at least fourth and the track was improving."

"I believe that at the very least we had a chance to be on the front row today. At least that happened today, not tomorrow. So let's give it our all by starting in these positions.
