Damon Hill believes that the battle between Charles Leclerc, Sergio Perez, and Lewis Hamilton at the end of the British GP was "tough but fair," amid questions about the lack of punishment.
Speaking on the podcast , Hill expressed his opinion that the commissioners acted correctly in preventing any interference in the dispute.
"There was some touching and pushing, but I think when the race directors got a protest, they seemed to deal with it very quickly," Hill stated.
"Basically, they said 'no, we're not going to do anything, it's a fair contest,' and I believe that was a good sign.
"That's just what happens when you're fighting, when there's a driver diving on the inside. You can't give everyone room. Sometimes you use the whole track!"
"We saw Lewis going off the track in Turn 3 and you could say 'well, he was pushed by Sergio,' but not really. Sergio dived on the inside and Lewis had to give up the position."
"It was brilliant to watch some very exciting contests, and I considered them tough but fair. We had Charles overtaking Lewis on the outside at Copse, which was unbelievably good."
Hill added that the Silverstone race showed that the aerodynamic regulation changes implemented at the beginning of 2022 can work in the right places.
"We've had some not very busy races where the drivers couldn't get close enough in the fast corners to make the DRS work, but this time they did," Hill continued.
"There were some incredibly close battles, and I think it showed that the cars can go close in high downforce corners because they stayed really close for a long time, which made for an exciting finish."
