Johnny Herbert praised Sergio Perez for his improved form at the start of 2022, with the Mexican entering the fight for wins in more races.
"I think he's getting closer, and I say that because I believe he's adapting brilliantly to the team," Herbert told the when asked for his opinion regarding Perez's recent form.
"He did a wonderful job, as we saw, in Monaco. He seems to be maturing brilliantly, which is even more important for the team because of the constructors' championship."
Perez is known for being one of the friendliest and nicest drivers on the grid, and Herbert believes that this attitude makes him a good example for young people.
"I think a lot of young people should look at his approach in racing when they are trying to go from karting to Formula One. He really conducts himself brilliantly and is getting stronger."
"We are going to Azerbaijan, where he won last year (Perez's first win for Red Bull). He has been on the podium three times there. I think only Sebastian Vettel has done the same."
"So, again, it looks like he's going to a circuit where he feels comfortable and that will only allow him to show the speed that he actually possesses."
With Max Verstappen's top driver status being threatened for the first time since Daniel Ricciardo left Red Bull in 2018, Herbert said the dynamic in the team will be intriguing.
"Maybe he is starting to become a little stone in Max Verstappen's shoe, and it would be really interesting to see how that dynamic works at the same time."
"We will see some brilliant things because those two Red Bull drivers really are strong in Azerbaijan, and who knows which one will get the better of them?"
