At Silverstone, Niels Wittich's Event Notes revealed that there would no longer be an exemption for wearing jewelry and piercings, so Hamilton would potentially face a fine. Since he indicated that his piercings could not be easily removed, he was given until the end of June to change this.
It seems that the Briton eventually relented, because before practice on Friday he was seen without his nose piercing. This ends the long discussion between the FIA and Hamilton after the new race director indicated that he would enforce the existing rule.
