Lewis Hamilton believes that this year he is being the 'best teammate' since he arrived in F1, after helping Mercedes solve several problems with their W13 concept.

The Silverbacks have struggled in the new era of F1, losing out on pace to Red Bull and Ferrari at the top of the grid and leaving Hamilton and George Russell struggling to be the 'best of the rest'.

Mercedes has also been forced to deal with aggressive porpoising since the start of the season, and while this phenomenon seems to have been overcome, mechanical bouncing through stiffness remains in abundance.

This led to both drivers testing very different setups in Friday's practice sessions for the engineering team to try to find a solution.

But so far it has been Hamilton - for his experience - who has always been given a more aggressive and ultimately incorrect set-up direction.

The seven-time champion has won only two podiums so far this season and was asked how he views this.

Assessing his campaign so far, during which he has earned only two podiums, Hamilton replied, "I don't look at my season very often and evaluate it, in a sense of judgment. I mean, I'm working as hard as I can, staying positive."

"We've come from a tough year, and I'd like to think I'm being the best teammate I've ever been, not only for George, but also for all the engineers, all the mechanics and everyone who works in the factory, and trying to keep everyone's energy high."

"I'm trying a lot of different experimental things on the car to help us get the data and move forward."

"While, yes, it hasn't been ideal most weekends, it's often slowed us down because we missed a session or two, but that's okay because eventually we'll get there and I'm proud to have been a part of that process."
