Once again, the German team took home a large amount of points, given how far behind Ferrari and Red Bull they were in 2022. Montreal is one of Hamilton's most successful circuits, with seven wins and six pole positions.

Although he did not extend this record this weekend, Hamilton is happy with his third place finish, highlighting how difficult the past few months have been. "We had an incredible crowd here. It's awesome to be third, it's been a really big battle this year with the car," Hamilton said in the post-session interviews.

"As a team, we kept our focus and never gave up. They (Red Bull and Ferrari) are a little too fast, but we have to keep pushing and hopefully eventually we'll be in the fight with those guys," the seven-time champion continued.

"Our pace was good. We worked hard in the simulator to get the car right. I didn't expect this for the weekend," added the Mercedes driver.
