Lewis Hamilton sees no reason to retire from Formula One, as he still finds the same pleasure in racing - even if Mercedes is far from the 2022 title race
Only sixth in the Drivers' World Championship and with a Mercedes that is unstable from track to track, Lewis Hamilton seems far from seeking his octahedon championship in 2022. The many difficulties with the W13 have allowed the Briton only one podium this season, won in Bahrain. That is why, given his underwhelming performance, rumors about a possible retirement have surfaced.
The 37-year-old driver has a contract with the Brackley-based team until the end of next year. The renewal came after a great novel and, mainly, a lot of speculation about the troubled Abu Dhabi GP of 2021. However, when asked if his plans with Formula 1 have changed, the seven-time champion vehemently denied it.

"We'll take this season. I probably won't win the title, but I feel the same pleasure in racing as when I started, so why should I stop? Maybe one day I can't take the pressure anymore, I'll be tired, but that day hasn't come yet," he said in an interview with the Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera.
Lewis Hamilton has 50 points so far. He is 75 shots behind leader Max Verstappen, and 34 behind his teammate George Russell. Still, although he is far from dreaming of the title, he believes he has what it takes to challenge for it as long as he is in F1.
"Of course I believe [that I can get back into title contention]. I've been with these guys [Mercedes] for 10 years. I know how they work and the kind of culture we have: we win and lose together. They are very motivated, they give their souls to try to get us back to the top.
