Hamilton reacts to Silverstone podium: "I gave everything

The team has struggled with the quiques since preseason testing and issued a series of updates this weekend. On a different day, perhaps Mercedes and Hamilton could have capitalized on Ferrari's mistakes up front.

A slow pit stop cost Hamilton an important 1s5, and Hamilton was left wondering if his team opted for the right tires when they stopped under the safety car. But in the end, the seven-time world champion was satisfied with third place.

"I gave everything, I tried to chase the Ferraris, but they were very fast. I was in the battle with Checo, they were too fast for me on the straights. Thanks to the team for the hard work with the updates, we took a step closer to them," Hamilton told Jenson Button in the post-race interview.

"We lost time at the pit stop, and then I was chasing. The pace was great on both sets of tires, once you have a Red Bull behind, they are very fast on the straights," he continued

The British crowd came out in record numbers this weekend. Hamilton wanted to send his thanks to the fans and also to the team for finding the wins.

"Thank you all for the amazing support, we don't see that all over the world. I'm happy that everyone is safe from the big crash. Let's keep speeding be the best we can," Hamilton added.
