Lewis Hamilton expressed the result he is hoping for at the Canadian Grand Prix after being elated with his fourth place in qualifying.
The Mercedes driver - who has won more pole positions than any other driver in Formula One history - admits that he has never been so pleased with fourth position.
"Honestly, I feel amazing," Hamilton told . "Very happy! Fourth place has never felt so good. Maybe in my first year racing here in 2007, when I got my first P4 in qualifying."
"That a great feeling and I think this is a bit similar, particularly because it's been an extremely difficult year, so to overcome what we're facing at least today ... It was difficult for everyone on the track."
"I'm really happy to put us in a good position because everyone is working really hard and we are facing challenges with this car."
With the W13 having problems such as the ticking over, Hamilton says there was quite a bit of work done overnight before qualifying. Therefore, he hopes to at least maintain position in Sunday's race.
"We did a lot of work during the night," Hamilton explained. "We went two different directions yesterday just trying to get information. George (Russell)'s track happened to be a lot better, so the car wasn't great throughout the session."
"I think we should be in a much better position tomorrow and we have slightly different setups for the race, but we are in a great position. Hopefully I can at least hold the position."
When asked specifically where his step forward came from, Hamilton suggested it was a combination of factors.
"With this car, you need everything and a little bit more to fit together," he said. "I know how I feel when this car works. I like to think I have pace, and on this track, particularly in a session like that, you need pace."
"I feel like this car works on a completely different beat. It doesn't work on the normal bump, so it's been hard to get used to that, and I think it really is all everyone's hard work."
"I believe the rain makes it quite different. If it was dry, I don't know if we would be in this position, but the rain always opens up opportunities and I love this track."
"This weekend has been a struggle so far, so there is still a lot of work to do tomorrow, but hopefully the whole team is feeling optimistic."
"Please keep giving us strength. We need you, I need you, we are working as hard as we can and I totally believe in them. I hope we can end this crunch at some stage."
