After his brilliant weekend last weekend in France , this time there is nothing but a challenge for Lewis Hamilton. The Briton was only P11 in the second free practice in Hungary.
"The car is a bit difficult today. It's crazy how it oscillates so much from track to track, but it's just set-up. Just trying to figure out how we can make the car work. At the moment it's a bit loose and not doing what we want it to do. So, tough day," Hamilton told Sky Sports after TL2.
While it's not always smart to look too hard at the results in practice, the early signs for Mercedes' pace are not great, but further damage to the car may have caused more problems during the laps, Hamilton suggested.
"I couldn't run at the end because I suffered some damage. So I lost a lot of downforce and after that it was tricky with the long run pace. It's going to be a tough weekend, but we're going to give it everything," added the seven-time champion.
With the forecast showing rain for tomorrow's sessions, this could help Mercedes in their battle to get back to the front. But there will be a lot to change in the next 24 hours if they want to be competitive this weekend.
