Hamilton criticizes Gasly after touch at the start: "I don't understand why you would do that

Lewis Hamilton survived the sprint race in Austria held this Saturday (9). After a very difficult Friday, with the accident he suffered during Q3 at the Red Bull Ring, the seven-time world champion saved an eighth position and a point in the Drivers' World Championship table.

And it was not easy at all to achieve this result, after all, he had to clash wheels with Haas' Mick Schumacher for a few laps before, finally, overtaking the young German. Lewis thanked Mercedes for their efforts in putting the car in a condition to run on the Austrian circuit.

"I'm very grateful to have survived out there today, the team did a great job recovering the car from last night. I'm also happy to have brought it back in one piece at the end of this sprint race. I'm already crossing my fingers that I can run stronger tomorrow," said Hamilton.

The start of the British driver was not the best of his career either. He ended up tangling with Pierre Gasly and caused the Frenchman to spin. Lewis tried to justify himself and criticized the AlphaTauri driver's maneuver. "I didn't make a good exit, Pierre passed me at turn one, but I can't understand why they do that when there is so much space on the right to pass, I couldn't do anything."

Further on, new trouble for Hamilton, who was involved in an incident with Alexander Albon and Sergio Perez. The Mercedes driver, from then on, began his ordeal to try to overtake Mick Schumacher, in the dispute that drew the most attention in the monotonous race.

"I had a little bit of damage, but at least I could take it. After that I was just trying to catch up with Mick. We are slower on the straights, and to pass him I needed Magnussen to give me distance so I could open the DRS, and in the end it took me a few laps to get ahead of Schumacher," said Hamilton.
