Lewis Hamilton has confirmed that he will race in Canada after treatment for the back pain he suffered during the Azerbaijan GP.

The Mercedes W13 suffered terribly from the heat on the Baku street circuit, with Hamilton and his teammate George Russell calling for adjustments to Formula One's technical regulations in order to protect the drivers' health.

After 51 laps in the intense heat, the seven-time world champion barely made it out of the cockpit of his car, sitting on the halo to recover and putting his hand on his back.

Team boss Toto Wolff cast doubt on Hamilton's participation in this weekend's race in Montreal, but in a post on , the Brit minimized any fears.

"Good morning, world," he wrote. "Yesterday was tough and I had some trouble sleeping, but I woke up feeling optimistic today!"

"Back is a bit sore and bruised, but thankfully nothing serious. I had acupuncture and physical therapy with Ang (Cullen) and am going to my team to work with them on improvements."

"We have to keep fighting. No better time than now to stick together. I will be there this weekend, I wouldn't miss it for anything. I wish everyone an amazing day and week."
