In his 300th Grand Prix, Lewis Hamilton achieved his best result of the 2022 F1 season, securing P2. Hamilton shared the podium with his younger teammate and Mercedes gained a huge amount of points over Ferrari in the Constructors' Championship after Charles Leclerc crashed out in the lead.

It wasn't the best preparation for the race, but Mercedes once again made progress after trouble ahead. Leclerc's mistake moved Hamilton into second place. Although he was unable to chase his rival for the 2021 title, he managed to stay comfortably in second place.

"It was a tough race, my drink bottle didn't work. But what a great result, considering we were so far behind this weekend. Reliability is one thing my team has been amazing at," Hamilton said in the post-race interviews.

"George has also done an amazing job. It's going to be hard to beat Ferrari and Red Bull. Hopefully we can take a step forward with another upgrade," the seven-time champion continued.

With temperatures in the 30s, it was a very hot race. A challenge for the tires with surface temperatures around 60 degrees, but also difficult for all the drivers.

Hamilton did not drink water and explains how this changes his weight. "I didn't see my weight, but I imagine (I lost) about three kilos. That's enough. I'm looking forward to drinking the rest of this drink," Hamilton added.
