Hamilton after short race: "I was slower than Haas"

Lewis Hamilton had a difficult short race. The Briton was hit twice on the first lap of the race, damaging his Mercedes. Hamilton finally managed to secure a point with eighth place, but could not do much in the battle with Haas.

At the start of the short race, things went wrong for Hamilton. The Briton ended up in a sandwich and had no way out, crashing into Pierre Gasly's car. "There was no room where I could really go. It was an unfortunate incident, but there was nothing else I could have done," the Briton told Sky Sports.

"Then it happened at turn three, so I was grateful to get through the first lap. I tried to catch up, but we were slow on the long straights, so you kind of stay in the same place," the seven-time world champion continued.

After a few laps, Hamilton found himself stuck behind Kevin Magnussen and Mick Schumacher. After a tense battle, the Briton managed to get past Schumacher's car, but lost a lot of time. In the end, there was no more than eighth place.

"I didn't really learn anything in the race, except that we were slower than Haas on the straight. I have one in front of me now and not two, so we have to wait until we get out of the DRS train to try to gain positions. We'll give it everything on Sunday," concluded the Mercedes driver.
