Both Lewis Hamilton and George Russell crashed in Q3 today in similar fashion, with the pair losing the rear of their cars at turns 7 and 10. Hamilton is unhappy that he crashed after what looked like a potential front row get.
"I'm incredibly disappointed in myself and I feel for the team," he told Sky Sports, "everyone worked really hard to put the car together and I never like to bring it back damaged."
The Briton then added to his frustration, adding that a top three finish was potentially there for the taking, "We were fighting for the top three places I think and I don't have an answer for that, I ended up losing the rear at turn seven and that was it."
The seven-time world champion will start from P10 tomorrow in the short race, but will try to move up the grid and gain a higher starting position in Sunday's race, which is possible in the Briton's mind.
He finished by saying, "I'm encouraged for sure, of course after this performance, we didn't expect to be this close today, so this is very positive for the team. I'm very far away, so I don't know what's possible from there, but we also have the short race, so tomorrow I hope we can make up some lost time," he concluded.
