Pierre Gasly failed to repeat in Canada the great performance of the previous stage in Baku and finished the race only 14th, blaming the lack of pace of the AT03 for the result

Pierre Gasly went to Canada on the back of a great fifth place in the Azerbaijan GP, but the driver faced a series of problems and setbacks with the AlphaTauri and couldn't go beyond 14th in the race in Montreal. And what puzzled the Frenchman the most was the lack of pace in the AT03.
After the race, Gasly explained that he had problems with the virtual safety-car, but simply could not recover on track the disadvantage. "We thought about risking something different," the driver said of the early stop to take advantage of the yellow flag intervention on lap nine.

"We were a bit unlucky with the virtual safety-car, which came out five laps later. There are pros and cons in every way, and they all didn't work in our favor," lamented the driver, who will defend his Faenza base for another season.
Gasly continued his post-race analysis, stating that the team needs to investigate what didn't work to justify the lack of competitiveness in Montreal. "The main problem, though, is that we didn't have a pace advantage compared to the others, and that's what we need to understand."
"I don't know if it's track specific, if it's a certain set-up for some tracks, but we need that to be looked into," Gasly concluded, emphasizing that "at the moment, I don't know why, but we were not competitive in Canada."
