Formula 1 rain expected for qualifying in England

The Formula One British Grand Prix weekend is a weekend of cool temperatures and always a chance of rain at Silverstone

Qualifying for the Formula 1 British Grand Prix is likely to be full of ups and downs this Saturday (2). Rain is expected to fall during the 60-minute grid session at Silverstone, located in Northamptoshire.

The information is from specialized meteorological service Accuweather. The grid start is scheduled for 3 pm local time [11 am GMT-3]. At this moment, the expected temperature is 19°C and the wind chill is 18°. The wind is less than yesterday, only averaging 9 km/h and gusting up to 15 km/h.

The point is that the chance of rain is 67% - so more than a chance, it is expected. It will not be a constant rain, however, but possible showers during the hour, especially in the first 30 to 40 minutes. In reality, rain will be a constant presence since one hour before the Formula 1 qualifying. Relative humidity stands at 68%.

Before that, at 12 p.m. local time, the third and last free practice session will take place with a dry track and little chance of rain. The temperature, however, will be even lower: 16°C - also a thermal sensation. Nevertheless, the sky will be sunny with a few clouds. The wind will be like yesterday: 20 km/h average and gusts up to 37%.
