Charles Leclerc has responded to claims that there is a deep division within the Ferrari team.
After the checkered flag at Silverstone, the Monegasque was so furious about his strategy that he was immediately reprimanded by Ferrari boss Mattia Binotto.
They subsequently had dinner at the famous Hotel de Paris in Monaco on Wednesday, with Leclerc supposedly having canceled his participation in a promotional event.
"I wanted to stay home and get away from everything in order to prepare for Austria, so he joined me to make sure I was okay," Leclerc said at the Red Bull Ring.
When asked who paid for the meal, he smilingly replied that "there are always dinners like that."
Leclerc denied suggestions that Ferrari is now dangerously divided, amid rumors that some members of the team refused to attend Carlos Sainz's victory celebrations at the British GP.
"It is not true that we are divided," he told the newspaper . "These are just rumors spread by the media that we must protect ourselves from. We are a united team and we will remain so."
"Of course I was dissatisfied and some parts of the team were also disappointed, as the last five races have been tough. However, there is no division and that is definitely not the reason why not everyone is in the div"
"Half of the team that stayed for the photo missed the plane home, which was quite difficult," Leclerc explained.
"I will continue to believe in the world championship as long as the math allows," added he, who is 42 points behind leader Max Verstappen. "There is absolutely no hard feelings."
