This Sunday (16 and 17) brought to a close the Formula-E World Championship in the United States. On the streets of Brooklyn, New York, the 22 cars of the competition participated in the 11th and 12th rounds of 2022.

In the "home" race for the Dragon Penske team, where the Brazilian driver Sérgio Sette Câmara competes, the round started in a very positive way. In the first free practice session, held on Friday afternoon, the young driver from Belo Horizonte registered the second best mark of the day, making everyone excited for what was to come.

Saturday's schedule opened with the second free practice session, followed by the qualifying session and the race of the 11th round. Aware that he had a well-adjusted car in his hands Sergio went into the qualifying session very confident. However, when entering the straight to open his fast lap, the driver got into a dirty part of the track and went off the track, hitting the protective barrier. After the touch, unfortunately, the team detected the breakdown of the differential of the car, which, due to the short time for the race, prevented him from running the day's race.

PERFORMANCE PROVEN ON SUNDAY

With the rebuilt car Sette Câmara arrived on Sunday morning willing to turn the page of the previous day's accident. So, focused, he already showed good performance in the free practice when he finished 11th.

Then, in the qualifying session, he really put into practice everything he had developed over the weekend. With a fantastic performance he took the first position and went on to the duels when, in the end, he qualified to start in fourth position - his best of the season so far.

The e-Prix, in turn, can be defined in two moments. In the first stage the Brazilian in the #7 car stayed in the first peloton and fought hard to defend his positions. In the second part, however, the well-known power consumption problems of the Dragon Penske car appeared and, in order to finish the race, Sette had to drastically reduce his pace, finishing the race only in 18th place.

"I was very happy with the result we achieved today in Quali. The team worked very hard to rebuild a car that was badly damaged in yesterday's accident, and everything worked perfectly. Confident of the equipment I had in hand I managed to do an almost perfect lap to secure myself the first position in the group. Starting from fourth position was above all a reward for everyone. Unfortunately, we already knew that our race pace would not allow us to aim for a great result. So, of course I'm disappointed with the race result, but at least today we have something to celebrate," said the 24-year-old driver.

The Formula-E Championship is now leaving the United States and heading back to Europe. Two weeks from now, on July 30-31, the Championship will hold its penultimate round of the year on the streets of London, England.
