Antonio Felix da Costa won Sunday's Formula E race in New York from pole position. The DS Techeetah driver kept his nerves under control against Mercedes driver Stoffel Vandoorne. Mitch Evans finished third.
Da Costa started from pole in place of Nick Cassidy. The Envision Racing team was forced to replace the battery and cooling system, which resulted in a grid penalty. As a result, the Portuguese driver dominated for his first win of the season, despite enormous pressure from Vandoorne.
Andre Lotterer started from fourth position, but only left the grid after a considerable delay. Pole position Antonio Felix da Costa started well and defended his first place.
Vandoorne finally made it to second place ahead of Alexander Sims' Mahindra, which was hit by Vandoorne's teammate Nyck de Vries while trying to pass Mitch Evans' Jaguar.
Mitch Evans and De Vries later collided on the approach to turn six, causing Evans to spin in half after a wild moment. De Vries also had one at that moment when trying to pass Sims, which sent him back behind Evans.
While the New Zealander was putting pressure on Sims, Robin Frijns overtook compatriot De Vries for sixth place. A fight at the end involving Lucas di Grassi threatened to affect the end of the race, but fortunately it was completed.
