Enzo Fittipaldi came very close to the points zone in the second race of the seventh round of Formula 2, held at the Silverstone circuit, in England, this Sunday (3). After securing his second podium in the 2022 season, the Charouz driver finished the race in 11th place, just one place below the group that guarantees points in the Feature Race. It has been five consecutive double rounds reaching the points in at least one of the races.
The Brazilian started from the ninth position and, right in the first meters, he advanced to the seventh place, showing a lot of fight in the first laps. Fittipaldi's performance, however, dropped right after the mandatory pit stop, when he put on hard tires after starting with soft ones. Still, the driver remained in the top-10 until the final lap, when he lost one position.
Fittipaldi highlighted the good finish he had, remembering the third place achieved the day before. The result was vital for the Charouz driver to remain among the top ten in the classification table, since Enzo now occupies the ninth position in the championship, with 56 points at the end of seven rounds.
"The weekend was good, even though I got no points today. I got my second podium in the category and showed a good performance. Unfortunately the car lost performance after the pit stop, but I was still close to the top-10. Let's work to keep scoring in the next rounds," said Enzo.
The next round of the Formula 2 Championship will take place next weekend at the Red Bull Ring in Austria.
