Alpine junior Jack Doohan took his first Formula 2 victory in the sprint race on a wet track at Silverstone.
Because of the rain, the start was on the move. Jehan Daruvala, first on the partially inverted grid, got off to a good start, with Enzo Fittipaldi right behind in second.
Doohan took third place from Juri Vips on lap five, and the Estonian almost immediately began to be pressured by Ayumu Iwasa - who managed to pass him at Stowe.
Fittipaldi took the lead after leaving Daruvala behind on the Club exit at the end of lap five. Doohan also overtook the Red Bull junior soon after.
Fittipaldi lost track at Abbey on lap 8, giving up the lead to Doohan. On the next passage, he was already three seconds ahead of the Brazilian.
Theo Pourchaire passed Daruvala at Club, leaving the front-runner fifth on lap nine, as Doohan continued to extend his advantage.
With 15 laps to go, the drivers were facing visible difficulties with the wear on their rain tires. Felipe Drugovich made good use of his better management and overtook Frederik Vesti.
Iwasa significantly reduced his gap to Doohan in the last laps, but could not prevent the Australian from taking his first victory in F2.
Fittipaldi took the podium in third, followed by his championship rivals - Pourchaire and Drugovich - in fourth and fifth, respectively.
