Sergio Pérez secured the extra point with a time of 1min46s046 in this Sunday's race in Baku. Max Verstappen was 0s004 behind the Mexican's best lap

Sergio Pérez was the one who secured the fastest lap point in Sunday's (12) race in Azerbaijan, the eighth round of the 2022 Formula 1 season. The Red Bull driver - who finished the race in second, behind his teammate Max Verstappen - turned in 1min46s046 on the 36th lap.
The Dutchman, in fact, came very close to stealing the point and further increasing his lead in the World Championship, but was 0s004 behind Pérez. His time of 1min46s050 came on the penultimate lap of the race.

Even though he complained a lot of back pain, Lewis Hamilton had a great performance with Mercedes and was the owner of the third best mark on the Azeri track. The seven-time champion's lap time of 1:47:04 on lap 39 was 0:133 faster than that of teammate George Russell.
Who came in fifth was a surprising Yuki Tsunoda with AlphaTauri. The Japanese driver, by the way, had a very good pace in Baku and only didn't score because of a problem with the rear wing of the AT03. Lap 42 was Tsunoda's fastest: 1min47s523.
Before his painful pitstop while leading, Charles Leclerc set his best lap time of 1min47s531, still in the 13th turn of the race. The Monegasque is followed by Williams' Alexander Albon, Alpine's Fernando Alonso, and McLaren's Lando Norris, the last to lap in 1min47s on the Azeri track.
Lance Stroll took Aston Martin to the top-10 fastest laps. In turn 38, the Canadian set 1min48s038.
At the bottom of the grid, Carlos Sainz abandoned Sunday's race prematurely and set his best time of 1min48s978 on lap 3. Nicholas Latifi was last, with a time of 1min49s583 recorded on the 38th lap.
