Speculation that Daniel Ricciardo could lose his seat at McLaren at the end of the season seems to have subsided.
Zak Brown, the team's CEO, caused a stir recently when he said that there were "mechanisms" in place to terminate the Australian's contract for 2023 because he "has not been meeting his and our expectations."
Subsequently, Ricciardo revealed that he has had "some conversations" with Brown, coinciding with an improvement in form.
"I believe we need to focus on giving better race cars to our drivers," Brown said when asked about McLaren's current relationship with Ricciardo.
When asked if that relationship has changed recently, he insisted, "No, not at all. I just gave an honest answer when asked a question."
"I think Daniel said the same thing. We are here to try to get ahead. I believe he is extremely motivated. He has our full support, we are having fun and we have a great relationship."
"We had a dinner a few weeks ago in London, we have good laughs together and we enjoy racing together, so the relationship with Daniel has never been better."
