Valtteri Bottas has come out in favor of ending the use of sausage-zebras in international motorsport. According to him, the accident between Dennis Hauger and Roy Nissany in F2 must serve as a trigger

The weekend of the British GP ended with some strong accidents. But one of them, in particular, gave intensity to a long-standing discussion in motorsport: the use of high weeds as track limit demarcation. Valtteri Bottas joined the chorus calling for an end to the use of this type of zebra for safety reasons.
The accident in question was in the main Formula 2 race. Dennis Hauger went off the track after being touched by Roy Nissany and went straight through the next corner, entering the track through the high zebra placed there. When the car touched the sausage, it went off the ground and ended up on top of Nissany's exact car. Scary accident, although it did not create any physical problems for the drivers.
"I hope so. Track limits are track limits, they don't need to be created with the high zebras. The white line works elsewhere, so I really don't see a reason for that. And I think the drivers' meeting will be quite long this week," he told the GPFans website.

"The thing is that something always needs to happen, as we saw on Sunday. I hope it's enough to act as a trigger for discussion," he continued.
Bottas was also asked if he thought like Guanyu Zhou about the accident the rookie suffered in Austria: that he was saved by the halo. And he nodded.
"Yes, I agree and I think everybody agrees. What happened in F1 in general safety terms was great. I only saw that he was upside down and sliding, but I passed straight through, so I didn't see it anymore. You have to put that behind you and get on with the race, but I soon got the message that he was okay, so that helped," he finished.
Formula 1 continues this weekend in Spielberg with the Austrian Grand Prix.
