Binotto: Ferrari's reliability is a "concern

Mattia Binotto admits that Ferrari needs to accept that its car is "not totally reliable" after the double abandonment at the Azerbaijan GP.

"It's certainly a concern," Binotto told . "I think we said it before we even came to Baku. Reliability is always a key factor in the battle, as is performance."

"As a team, we put a lot of effort over the winter to develop the car. We proved that we are still not fully reliable. There is some work to be done."

However, Binotto insists that the team will not be discouraged by the problems, just as it has not been overly enthusiastic about its strong start to the season.

"I believe the team will stay focused, work hard and try to solve the problems in order to become stronger in the future" he added.

When asked if there are any solutions already on the way, Binotto explained, "I believe that first we have to analyze and understand what happened today.

"Not all of these problems are the same. Maybe some of them have a very quick solution, I don't know yet. Honestly, we need some time to analyze, to understand. Maybe some are the same as before, maybe not."

In Binotto's opinion, the problems suffered in previous events - such as Leclerc's abandonment at the Spanish GP - "have no relation" to the failures in Baku.

Some Ferrari customers also suffered abandonments in this Sunday's race, with Zhou Guanyu (Alfa Romeo) and Kevin Magnussen (Haas) stopping with mechanical problems.

"I think we need to analyze that," Binotto said. "Maybe Zhou's abandonment is not related to our supplied components. But again, it is something to be analyzed."

"In general, what is happening there is always useful. We don't supply to customer teams for our business, it's more to get technical feedback."

"So whatever is going on is certainly useful, and we will take it easy to analyze both those components and those that are present in the red cars."
