Binotto: F1 is not yet ready for Porsche and Audi

Mattia Binotto, Ferrari boss, explained that the delay in confirming Audi and Porsche's entry into Formula 1 is a result of the lack of information about the future regulations.

With the new regulations for 2026, the category is aiming for growth with the entry of the Volkswagen Group. However, despite rumors in recent years, the deal has not yet been announced.

"Why is it taking so long? Because it takes time to do things properly and simply," Binotto told .

"We are not ready at the moment, the current manufacturers and the FIA, because they are the ones leading the discussions and the regulations are not ready yet. There are open points and there needs to be a consensus."

Although the delay is explained by the long processes required to commit to F1, the Italian assured that the teams are doing everything they can to help Volkswagen.

"The entry of Audi and Porsche is great for F1. It is very good to have more manufacturers and the Volkswagen Group within our business."

Binotto explained that the talks with Audi and Porsche have led the manufacturers to make different decisions than the current regulations.

"We are doing what we can, trying to adapt to make sure they are happy. We removed the MGU-H and we did that just to try to help them get into F1."

"Believe me, removing the H is not the best choice for us. It's a compromise because it's a technology that we know very well and high efficiency, which is great for F1. Overall, we are being quite positive and constructive."
