O Grand Prix Power Ranking Each F1 race continues today after the ninth GP of 2022 in Montreal, Canada As it has been happening for four years now, Adauto, Bruno, Leandro, Eduardo and Globo's guest Rafael Lopes - motorsports commentator at the - continues together with our team to give notes to all drivers after each F1 race.
The scores, as it was in 2019, 2020 and 2021, will be presented in a table with the score of each of us for each driver. In the last column of the table we will have the average for each pilot, which is what counts for the ranking.
The criteria for the grades will be the mistakes and successes of each driver in free practice, in qualifying for that GP, and in the race. But the most important will be his performance relative to the level of the car he has and to his direct opponents.
Lewis Hamilton "won" the Autoracing Power Ranking overall as the best F1 driver in 2019 and 2020, with Max Verstappen winning in 2021.
Today in the Autoracing Power Ranking you will see two tables; that of the GP in question and the overall ranking, which changes as the average of each GP goes on, as we consider this the only correct way to rank drivers during a season.
According to the Autoracing Power Ranking raters, the Canadian GP was a good race of the 2022 F1 season and got an average of 7.5, only below the Bahrain GP and the Saudi Arabia GP. Charles Leclerc's grid penalty may have prevented an even better fight for the top spot, despite very good contests in the rest of the field.
Max Verstappen dominated the weekend, despite being pushed hard by Carlos Sainz in the last 17 laps of the race after a safety car. The Spaniard had the best race pace on the grid, but was unable to overtake the Vespa as he did poorly through the last chicane and the hairpin, while the Vespa did those two parts of the track perfectly, totally avoiding a really incisive attack by Sainz.
Hamilton and Russell also had a great weekend after the big problems in Monaco and Baku, so they were P2 and P3 in the race rankings.
Leclerc had a good recovery starting from penultimate, but the evaluators expected more from the Monegasque, who was stuck for more than 10 laps behind Ocon making the same mistake as his teammate against Verstappen.
There was little change in the overall ranking of the Autoracing and Max Verstappen remained the best of the year so far,
The next race will be on July 3 at Silverstone, England, where many teams will bring updates to the iconic English track.
There are still 13 races to go, and a lot can happen between now and the end of the season!
