Mike Krack, Aston Martin's team boss since the beginning of the year, has openly stated that he wants Sebastian Vettel to stay on for 2023

Will Sebastian Vettel stay or leave Aston Martin after the end of the 2022 season? It is a doubt underlined despite the fact that the four-time champion's contract expires only at the end of next year, as the discussion about whether or not Vettel wants to continue in Formula 1 even without real chances of fighting for a title is growing. As far as Aston Martin boss Mike Krack is concerned, however, the will is to keep him.
Krack assures that this is more a matter for Vettel than for Aston Martin. If Barb wants to stay, the team will welcome him with open arms.
"We have always been clear in the sense that if he wants to continue, we want him to continue for a long time. We are talking. We have a great relationship, we don't put any time limit on it," he told the British magazine Autosport.
"Of course at some point, if the conversation goes on too long, we will also get into trouble, but he knows that. We are in very honest discussions. From this point of view, everything is fine," he followed.

One step in convincing Vettel to stay is the improvement of the car. The German missed the first two races of the year due to a positive Covid-19 diagnosis, and when he returned he found one of the worst cars on the grid. The pace improved, however, with the new project delivered from the Spanish GP on. With Vettel leading the team and level seen as good, Krack emphasizes that he wants to show more to the four-time champion starting in England.
"We have always said that we want to improve the car, and I think Barcelona was the first step. We want to show him that we have taken another step forward, and then we can talk more. Maybe at Silverstone I will succeed and his desire to stay will grow even more," he said.
But the English team boss guaranteed: to have no impression about the final decision.
"We shouldn't go around talking about feelings, because you might end up disappointed. But no, we have analyzed what we have done here, we have worked hard for Silverstone, and then we will see where we are and talk about it," he concluded.
Formula One returns next weekend, July 1-3, at Silverstone, with the British GP.
