Apple Announces Car Movie with Hamilton in the Production and Brad Pitt in the Cast

A new movie with motorsports as its central theme is set to hit the silver screen. Apple Studios has announced that it has acquired the rights to a film about characters involved in Formula 1, starring Brad Pitt and produced by Lewis Hamilton.

In the Apple film, which does not yet have a set title, Oscar winner Pitt will be a veteran driver who gives up retirement to join a rookie driver on a Formula 1 team. The actor is currently 58 years old.

In addition to Pitt and Hamilton, it is also set that the film will be directed by Joseph Kosinski and scripted by Ehren Kruger. The two held these same positions in the recently released and still currently in theaters 'Top Gun: Maverick'. Kosinski's other directing credits include 'Tron: Legacy' and 'Oblivion'. Kruger, meanwhile, has been at the helm of screenplays such as 'The Call' and the latest films in the 'Transformers' saga.

The production is in charge of Hamilton, Plan B Entertainment - owned by Brad Pitt -, and Jerry Bruckheimer Films - through the experienced Jerry Bruckheimer and Chad Oman.

This is not the first time Pitt has been involved with a motorsports film. The actor was involved in the origins of the project that eventually became the award-winning 'Ford v Ferrari'. The actor also gave the starting flag for the 2016 Le Mans 24 Hours.

Hamilton also has some history with film. He has participated, via voice acting, in the films 'Cars 2', 'Cars 3' and was in a quick appearance in the film 'Zoolander 2', as well as producing the documentary 'The Game Changers - Gladiator Diet', about vegan diets for high performance athletes focused on MMA fighter James Wilks. Recently, there was talk that the seven-time world champion was so enamored with the film biography of the sisters Serena and Venus Williams that he is considering making his own in the future.

No date has yet been set for the film's release.
