After much speculation regarding Pierre Gasly's future, AlphaTauri has confirmed he will remain with the team for 2023.
There have been rumors about the Frenchman's next steps in recent months, although it was clear after Red Bull extended Sergio Perez's contract until the end of 2024 that he would not be returning to the top team in the near future.
However, Gasly's place at AlphaTauri for another year has now been made official. He has been with the team since 2017, with the exception of his brief stint with Red Bull in 2019 before returning mid-season.
Team boss Franz Tost is happy with Gasly's confirmation for 2023 and hopes that AlphaTauri can give him a competitive car.
"We are really pleased to confirm that Pierre will stay with us for 2023," Tost said. "He is definitely in the group of the best and most competitive drivers in Formula 1 and has proven his ability throughout his time with us."
"Without a doubt, Pierre can play an important role in the team's success next year, and it will be up to us to provide him with a competitive car so that he can continue to deliver excellent results."
