Fernando Alonso was the sixth fastest of the day in free practice for the Hungarian GP on Friday (29), and said that Alpine was able to gather good data for qualifying
Fernando Alonso ended Friday's track activities in Hungary satisfied with Alpine's performance. The Spaniard said that the French team took advantage of the day's sessions to test some different settings and also called attention to the rain forecast for qualifying.
The two-time champion set his best time in 1min19s049, 0s6 behind Charles Leclerc, the fastest of the day. "It was a productive Friday, we tested some different things in terms of car setup," said Alonso, who closed TL2 in sixth.
"The weather looks quite unstable for tomorrow and Sunday, so who knows what we will face, but we gathered some good data and ran a smooth program in both sessions," he added.
Birthday boy of the day, the Spaniard also said that the A522 looked "very good and nice to drive" in both TL1 and TL2. In the first session, he even placed tenth, just behind teammate Esteban Ocon.
"The car felt very good and nice to drive, so let's see what we can do tomorrow. I must also say that it was very nice to drive in Budapest on my birthday," concluded the now 41-year-old driver.
