Alonso reveals hand injuries

Fernando Alonso has revealed that he has injuries to his hands following his accident in qualifying for the Australian GP.

The Alpine driver has been seen wearing bandages on his hands and wrists in the stages following Melbourne, including in Monaco last weekend.

"Bones, ligaments, tendons, everything is a disaster at the moment," Alonso admitted. "I need two or three months and there is no surgery, nothing that can be done. Just rest."

"Unfortunately, I have to drive every two weeks, so I try to rest at home, but it will take a few months."

The two-time world champion was asked if giving up his seat temporarily to Alpine reserve Oscar Piastri is an option, and he replied smiling, "Yes, but we need points."
