Even with little track time due to rain in the first session, the two-time world champion said that Alpine analyzed what it needed to analyze on Friday and revealed he was looking forward to the rain - after all, under the same conditions in Canada, the Spaniard had a great qualifying performance

Alpine brought important updates to the A522 at Silverstone, but the rain prevented any kind of hard testing in the first free practice this Friday (01), on the opening day of F1 action for the British GP.
It was precisely for this reason that Fernando Alonso saw the French team suffer at Silverstone - even though the damage was to everyone. After all, the limited practice time in the first session made TL2 too busy. Still, from what little he saw, the two-time world champion said he was happy with the performance of the 'new' Alpine car.

"We would love to have more track time, but TL1 was a lost session for everyone. We tried to focus on working on the second free practice, but you always end up discovering new things with a new package of updates. So you want to fix it right away to keep going on the track, but time runs out fast. But that's how it is for everybody. We are happy with the performance of the car and we will see what we can achieve tomorrow," said Alonso.
Besides the performance, the Spaniard saw another positive factor on Alpine's Friday: the success in collecting information. The rainy weather forecast for Saturday also did not go unnoticed by Alonso, who reiterated his recent good result under the same conditions, in Canada, to show some kind of optimism at Silverstone.
"At the moment, it looks like rain is coming for TL3. If it continues like this, it will be a challenging weekend. But it's the same for everyone. We got the information we needed for today. If it's raining tomorrow, we'll see if we can get the car on track for TL3 in preparation for qualifying, which could be wet as well. In Canada, in these same conditions, we were P2 and P5, so for us it's okay (laughs). It's an optimistic weekend," he finished.
