Alonso laments Alpine's reliability in 2022: "We lost 50 or 60 points"

Again, the two-time world champion encountered problems. This time, in the sprint race in Austria, the Spaniard didn't even start: a failure in the Alpine's battery took Fernando Alonso out of the race this Saturday (9)

New day, new problem for Fernando Alonso in F1 2022. Married with bad luck in the current season of the main category of motorsport, the Spaniard once again suffered with Alpine's reliability issues this Saturday (9), in the sprint race in Austria.

After overcoming a broken floor in qualifying at Spielberg - which could have taken the French team to the top-5, according to the driver himself - Alonso didn't even get off the starting grid for Saturday's sprint at the Red Bull Ring.

With the starting procedures ready, the tires of the Spaniard's car followed with the thermal blankets. The pack came out for the introductory lap, but Alpine had to put the car on the trestle and take it to the pit-lane. "The engine wouldn't start. The battery was dead. Even with an external battery, the car wouldn't start," said the Alpine driver.

"Another competitive weekend where we will come out with zero points on this side of the garage. This is one of my best years, but we didn't have any luck. We lost 50 or 60 points," fired the two-time world champion, lamenting another reliability problem in 2022.
