"It's great. It's been an unbelievable weekend for us so far. We were competitive in the free practice sessions, although we usually are on Fridays, then we lost a bit of speed on Saturdays," said a very elated Alonso after qualifying.
"Thanks to the wet conditions today. The car was mega, I was very comfortable in it and I think the fans pushed me hard too," continued the Alpine driver.
Alonso has the prospect of his first podium since the 2021 Qatar GP, but the Spaniard himself wants more than a podium: "Let's see, I think we will attack Max in the first corner."
