Alonso criticizes salary cap for drivers

Fernando Alonso has revealed his opposition to the idea of a salary cap for Formula 1 drivers.

Max Verstappen's manager has already criticized the proposal, but Ferrari boss Mattia Binotto says that talks with Liberty and the FIA are already well advanced.

"We are discussing this, but there is no simple solution, especially for the drivers' salary cap," he commented.

"It won't be in the short term because we already have signed contracts, so it's a discussion that we understand and recognize will take time, but we will certainly go through the process."

However, according to Alonso, the drivers are not being included in these conversations so far.

"The drivers have always been excluded from this issue," the two-time world champion told . "I think they are using us more and more in F1."

"We are doing more and more events, we have more contact with the fans. They are asking more and more from us and benefiting from that. So we should be exempt from that ceiling."
