Alonso complains about 10th in Austria after "lost 6th place": "8 more points in the trash

Fernando Alonso was sixth, but had to stop in the pits in the final laps of the Austrian GP and crossed the finish line in 10th place, taking a point

Not even the sixth race in a row in the points - except for the sprint race that defined the starting grid for the Austrian GP this Sunday (10), in which he had a series of problems from the start and ended up 19th - left Fernando Alonso satisfied. The Alpine driver crossed the finish line in 10th, but left the Red Bull Ring very upset with the tire problems that made him, in his words, throw "eight points away".

Alonso performed well, pushed by the Alpine's strong performance, and had no trouble climbing the field. On lap 17 he was already in the top ten, showing that the Austrian race would be another great opportunity to score. In the closing laps, he was even in the top six.

"I was sixth. I had to stop twice at the end. From sixth, I fell to tenth. Another eight points in the trash," lamented a frustrated Alonso. "I think it was the wheel at the back, but I had a huge vibe with that set of tires. We had to see what happened, so I had to stop again," he explained.

"I was 14th and instead of finishing eighth, I finish tenth - with chances to be sixth. The points still elude us, but at least it was fun," added Alonso, who, despite the setbacks, added another point to reach 29. He is 10th in the standings.
