Alexander Albon was one of those involved in the accident at the start of the British GP and had to be taken to hospital for tests
In addition to Guanyu Zhou, Alexander Albon was also taken to the hospital after a severe accident at the start of the British GP on Sunday (3). The Williams driver crashed hard and took a long time to get out of the car.
At the start, Pierre Gasly hit George Russell and triggered a multiple crash involving Zhou, Yuki Tsunoda, Albon, and Esteban Ocon. The Chinese Alfa Romeo driver was trapped upside down in the car, making everyone at Silverstone tense as to the driver's real condition. After it was confirmed that he was conscious, F1 released footage of the frightening accident.
Albon was also taken to the medical center, Williams confirmed via Twitter. "Alex was transferred by helicopter to Coventry Hospital for examination following the incident on the opening lap. We will update when we have more information," the team wrote.
After a 57-minute stoppage, the race at Silverstone was restarted at 11:59 a.m. (ET).
