Albon is excited about the new aerodynamic package after the Austrian GP: "A fresh start

Alexander Albon didn't score any points, but he was satisfied with Williams' performance at the Austrian GP last Sunday (10). The Thai finished the race in 12th position and was in the top ten for part of the race, leaving with a feeling of happiness and the feeling that the team had taken a step forward.

"We were riding in 10th place at one point, which made me very happy. We went to Q2 this weekend and were holding our own in the race. We took a step forward in performance with the soft tires and I was happy," Albon celebrated.

The Thai finally completed a race with the British team's new aerodynamic package, which was introduced at the British GP, but was not properly tested due to the heavy crash at the start. The expectation now is that the data obtained will allow Williams to have more confidence in the basis of the car and, from there, bring updates to compete with the rest of the grid.

"It's our first full race with the new aerodynamic package. We will learn a lot from today's race, we will analyze the data and conclude where we are having difficulties, where we are weak. We're clearly still behind, but we're still understanding the car," Albon explained.

"You see that the top teams are confident with the base of their cars, and now they are just adjusting. We've made a very big change to the car, it's a different philosophy, and it needs more time to be understood. It's almost a fresh start. Fortunately, today we had a full race and we can use the data to see where we have to improve," Alexander said.

Williams and Albon will have another opportunity to better understand the FW-44 in two weeks, when Formula One returns for the French GP at the Paul Ricard circuit.
